Once again, the Pickens County Tea Party dares to invite all the candidates who are announcing for 2014 races- local, state & federal. You as a voter, WHO PAY THE ELECTED OFFICIALS SALARY, should be able to look at these candidates as any EMPLOYER would at a new employee. You should be able to ask questions, look at materials and hear the pitches as to why they are the best man or woman for the job. There are already announced: 9 candidates for GA US Senator (6 Rep.-3 Dem); 3 announced candidates for GA Governor (includes incumbent); 2 candidates announced for Pickens County Commission Post 1 (WEST) including the incumbent. Up for election in 2014 are 3 Pickens County Board of Education seats; GA Lt. Governor; GA Speaker of the House; GA Secretary of State; GA Attorney General; GA Agriculture Commissioner; GA Insurance Commissioner; GA Secretary of Education(seat being vacated with no announced candidate); GA State Senator (District 51); GA State Senator (District 54); GA State Representative (District 9 & 14); US Congress (District 9) and US Congress (District 14).
On Saturday, October 26th at Chattahoochee Technical College in Jasper from 2 to 4 p.m., the INDOOR CANDIDATE FAIR will be held. There will be no speeches; tables will be available for each candidate to offer themselves and their materials to you. You choose who you want to visit and what you want to ask. Only you will be able to decide if this candidate is who you will “hire” for the post they are seeking. Due to space constraints, we were unable to show pictures of all the incumbents and candidates. We tried to show faces that may not be as familiar to voters. Suffice it to say, there will be lots of candidates and representatives on hand for the fair.
All announced candidates have been invited, as well the incumbents who currently hold the position. Some have already accepted, some have said a representative will be available to speak on their behalf, and sadly, some have not responded at all. You will be able to see where the candidate stands, whether at the fair or a no show.
The Pickens County TEA Party does not endorse candidates NOR is it a political party. All political parties are welcome to attend this important event. All voters should make this a must do on their calendar. This may be the only time you are able to speak directly to your candidate. We hope you will be informed, educated and motivated to get involved in the 2014 elections by voting, getting properly registered to vote, speaking up about your candidate, volunteering to work for a candidate or go to as many events or town halls as you can.
We remind you that no large banners, campaign signs or unsuitable political slogans will be allowed. For further information, contact Penny Barber at pickenscountyteaparty@mail.com or visit the website at www.pickenscountyteaparty.com
