Pickens High School senior center Sarah Smith signed a full basketball scholarship with Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina on Friday, making good on the commitment she made to play for the Lady Camels in August.Campbell University is NCAA Division I and plays in the Southern Conference. Through two games Campbell, led by longtime head coach Wanda Watkins, are 1-1 on the 2013 campaign.
Smith has had an outstanding high school career at PHS, averaging 13.4 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. She has 779 career points and is only 221 away from the highly coveted 1,000 career point mark.
Some of her honors include being named to the 2nd Team All Region as a sophomore as well as to the 1st team All Region and 2nd Team All-State as a junior.
