The Georgia Mountains Hospice held the 2014 Mardi Gras this year on Saturday, March 1st, at the Appalachian campus of Chattahoochee Technical College. There were 440 people in attendance and an estimated gross amount of $56,000 was raised for the Georgia Mountains Hospice. Nominees for King and Queen included Don Ware, Gordon Pirkle, Richard Howard, Mike King, Patsy Jordan, Angela Harben, Amber Davenport and Angie Jones. Mike King, General Manager of Bent Tree was crowned King and Angie Jones, President of Pickens County Renasant Bank was crowned Queen during the event. The nominees raised over $15,000 of the total amount for the event.
