Jones Has Jones for Jumpers

Former Pickens High School Dragons basketball stand-out, Spencer Jones, has had a terrific year for the Auburn Montgomery Warhawks. Jones has shone a jones for jumpers, dropping “treys” like a nervous lunch lady all season for the Warhawks. Jones led Southern States Athletic Conference in three point percentage with a .444, which was good for 17th in the NAIA.Jones finished fifth in the conference with 63 three pointers made, and sixth in three’s per game with 2.33. Jones also showed his defensive prowess, finishing 15th in the SSAC with 1.33 steals a game, and 18th in number of steals with 36, all while showing a propensity for properly procuring the ball. He finished in the SSAC in turnover ratio, 1.33.

Jones started 26 of 27 games for the Warhawks, finishing second on the team in rebounds and assists with 107 (83 defensive) and 36 respectively. He was third on the team in points scored (260) and fourth in points per game (9.6), while chipping in 11 blocks.

Jones also led the team in minutes played (854) and minutes per game (31.6), all while picking up only 39 total fouls, 1.4 per game.
