Honorable Ronald Lee Newton, age 53 of Morganton, passed away April 13, 2014. Honorable Newton served as Chief Magistrate Judge of Fannin Co. and also city Judge for McCaysville since the mid 1990s. He was a friend and well liked by everyone who knew him. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed riding mountain bikes with Rita, spending time outside fishing, traveling and meeting new people.
Survivors include: wife, Rita Newton, father, John Newton Sr., son, Josh (Brittany) Newton, son, Andrew (Sydney) Sydney, grandchildren Riley Newton and Baylon Newton, brother, Rev. John Newton, Jr., nephew, Jonathan (Brittany) Newton and niece, Amanda Newton.
Funeral services: Sunday, April 27, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Henry-Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Dan Wilkins and Rev. Terry Thrasher officiating. Music provided by: Larry Cox family and Phillip Thomas family. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers: Wes Duvall, Kevin Ray, Russell H. Johnson, Roger Kincaid, James Hyatt and Jonathan Newton. Honorary pallbearers: Fannin Co. Sheriff Department.
The family will receive friends at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home of Blue Ridge on Friday, April 25 from 5:00 – 9:00 pm and Saturday, April 26, from 5:00 – 9:00 pm.
