A man involved in a fatal wreck early yesterday morning has been identified. He was Ricky Leeroy Yother, 59, from Murphy, NC.April 24, 2014:
Georgia State Patrol is investigating the cause of an early morning wreck that claimed the life of a man. Initially, the intersection of highways 136 and 515 were shut down but the thoroughfare is now open.
The accident happened at around 6 a.m. when the driver of a 2001 Chrysler Town and Country minivan pulled into a lane of traffic a dump truck was traveling in. Per the GSP the van was “
traveling southbound on GA 5 connector attempting to make a left turn onto SR 136. The driver did not yield and drove into the path of a dump truck traveling westbound on SR 136. The dump truck struck the van on the driver’s side. The driver died on the scene. The family has not been notified.”
Captain Frank Reynolds of the Pickens Sheriff’s Office reports that the GSP is at the hospital conducting further investigation and blood draws which is customary in any fatal wreck. If intoxicating substances played a role it has yet to be determined.
The driver of the dump truck was uninjured.
