Enis In, Picked by Pickens To Lead Dragonettes Basketball Program

The Pickens County Board of Education recently approved Coach Donna Enis as the new head coach for girls basketball at Pickens High School. Donna Enis began her coaching career in 1988 at Pickens County Middle School, the first year PCMS opened, and coached the girls’ basketball team for two years. She is a former Dragonette player and played for Coach Roy Cowart. Donna grew up watching the Dragonettes and was raised in the winning tradition of PHS girls’ basketball.

She became the assistant women’s basketball coach at West Georgia College under Coach Jane Williamson in 1990. She then began the girls’ basketball and softball programs at East Paulding High School when it opened in 1991. In the fall of 1992 Coach Enis began a 20-year career as the Head Girls Basketball coach at Cartersville High School with an overall record of 361-167. At Cartersville she led her teams to the state tournament 12 different years and finished in the “Elite Eight” three times. Her teams won four Region Championships and five Region Runner-up awards in those 20 years.

Head Coach, GACA North/South Junior All-Star Game, 2010

Educational Background:

North Georgia College – B.S. in Middle Grades Education
West Georgia College – Master’s Degree in Physical Education
Piedmont College – Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Supervision

Additional Information:

Coach Enis also served as the Assistant Athletic Director of Cartersville High School for 18 years. She has coached various sports in her career including:
1) Softball with an appearance in the “Elite Eight”.
2) Girl’s Golf Head Coach for eight years with two Region Championships, three top 6 finishes in the state golf tournament and two time GACA Region Coach of the Year awards.
3) She has coached volleyball the previous two years at PHS.
