Mr. Eugene Henderson, age 81, of Jasper passed away Friday, September 26, 2014 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper. Gene served his country proudly in the United States Army. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church where he was an ordained deacon. He was a member of Pickens Star Lodge #220 and Pickens Chapter #47 DAV and Jasper Order of the Eastern Star #479.
He is survived by his wife, Betty B. Henderson of Jasper; daughter, Paula Ann Henderson of Jasper; son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Trudy Henderson of Jasper; grandchildren, Heather Jewell West and Justin G. Henderson both of Jasper, great-grandchildren, Kevin West, Jake West, and James Colton West all of Jasper; sisters-in-law, Annie Lou Henderson and Sue Henderson both of Jasper; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, J.C. and Bonnie Boling, Sue Boling, and Michael and Judy Jarrett. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services were held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 28, 2014 at Salem Baptist Church with Reverend Eugene Childers, Reverend Thurston Parker, and Reverend Mark Chastain officiating. The internment followed at the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jack Queen, Phillip Henderson, Michael Henderson, Alan Henderson, Terry Henderson, J.C. Boling, and Earl Towery. Graveside Rites were at Pickens Star Lodge #220 and Pickens Chapter #47 DAV.
