The 7AAAA end of season awards and All-Region teams have been released and several Dragons football players are on the list. After a season in Jasper where several records and streaks were broken and playoff football returned to Dragon Stadium, 15 Dragon players were awarded with awards and All-Region Honors.
Shannon Brooks has been named the 7AAAA Overall Player of the Year. Shannon led the state in rushing for part of the season and helped his team get to the playoffs for the first time since 2005.

709 rushes for 5,797 yards and 68 touchdowns
85 catches for 1,259 yards and 14 touchdowns a total of 82 career touchdowns
What is a running back without blocking? The Dragon offensive lineman were honored as Jr., OL Zach Betts was named First Team All-Region, Sr., OL John Holbert was named Second Team All-Region, and Sr., OL Ryan Evans was named an Honorable Mention. The Dragon tight ends were recognized as well as Juniors Walker Lawrence and Bradley Ragano garnered Honorable Mentions.
Jr., Zack Herman was named First Team All-Region as an Athlete. Zack had 437 receiving yards, 417 return yards, and 71 rush yards. He had 5 total touchdowns. Defensively, Zack finished with 82 tackles, 2 interceptions, and 2 blocked kicks
Speaking of kicks, Jr., Marcus Byrd was named First Team All-Region as a punter. Marcus led the region in punting this season and also got Honorable Mention as a quarterback.
Jr., Ty Chastain was named Second Team All-Region as a kicker. Ty set a record this season at PHS for most extra points in a season with 54 shattering the previous record of 33
The Defense didn’t go unnoticed as several players from the Dragon defense were honored
Jr., Kyle West was named to the First Team All-Region at Linebacker. Kyle led the Dragons in tackles with 121, 13 tackles for loss, 9 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and 2 fumble recoveries
Jr., Andrew Ortiz was named Second Team All-Region as a linebacker, Sr., Kalyn Brooks and Jr., Alex Pittman were named Honorable Mention at defensive line, and Juniors Dillon Gasaway and Caleb Brooks were named Honorable Mention at defensive back
