The Healing Hand of God

Jesus will heal us today, because that is what Jesus does, and that is what he wants for you.Matt 4:23 “And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.”
Matt 15:30 “And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus’ feet, and He healed them.” 11 “And the people, when they knew it, followed him: and he received them, and spoke unto them of the kingdom of God, and healed them that had need of healing.”

What He did then, He will do now. He said, “I am the Lord I change not”. Mal. 3:6
There is what we call the “law of first mention”: this is a principle we use when we study the Bible and we don’t have further direction. We just keep going on and carrying out what has been done and taught in the past by the Lord Jesus. The apostles also taught us as they were taught.
Jesus didn’t like sickness and disease, and he wanted all to be healed; so we have no need to change that.

The military change order. In the service, you know and are taught every rule in the book. Every day you know exactly what to do, what to wear, what time to eat, what time to sleep, what time you are to have lights out, etc. etc, and you dare not change anything without a change order. When the change order comes it will be posted everywhere on the base and your Sgt. will make sure you get the word. For example: The change order- October 15, you will change to winter green uniforms. On that day you will not see one Khaki uniform on the base, out of hundreds or thousands of men. I, of course, have said all of that to make a point about change. If our Lord Jesus did not give us a “change order” concerning healing, and the book is completed, we should not change anything but keep on keeping on. Jesus said to the twelve,“As you go, preach, saying, the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” He then said. Matt 10:8 “Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.”

Lu 9:1-2 “Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authorityover all devils, and to cure diseases.
And he sent them to preach the kingdom of Godand to heal the sick”
And they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gospel, and healing everywhere.

Question? Do we have devils, or demons and diseases out there today? If so, the order would still stand. He would not want the devil to run over you, or diseases to kill you.

Lu10:1 “After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come, and he said.”

Luke 10:9 “And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, the kingdom of God is come nigh unto you”. This is what should happen when you are born again, and step into the kingdom of God!!!

After his crucifixion he appeared to his disciples.
Mark 16:14–18 “Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen”.
“And he said unto them, Go ye into the world, and preach the gospel to every creature”.
“He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned”.
“And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;”
18 ”They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover”.

Never try to put a coma where God has put a period.
This is the Lords final word to us.

Mark 16:19 “So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God;”
20 “And they went forth, and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen”. If you will notice the eleven were just like us; full of unbelief and hardness of heart. He rebuked them for their unbelief, and their hardness of heart. Was He thinking, you are the best I have to work with, so, go into all the world and heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give. Matt 10:8

They were in no better shape than you and I are today. So, go lay hands on the sick, and start seeing the Lord’s hand at work.
Jesus gave us The Great Commission after He resurrected from the dead. It has nothing to do with the past. It was to begin when He ascended. This is what He expected us to do after He left. Woe! To the man that would attempt to change or challenge this order.Any person that would challenge this would be challenging the Master, Himself.

I think Jesus has made a clear, firm statement about healing. We don’t believe what Jesus said, as much as we believe ourselves. This cloud of doubt is most effective when allowed to penetrate our mind. If allowed, it will erode and erase all the promises of God in our lives (see Isaiah 26:3-4). A vivid example of this is Israel’s response to what they saw with their natural eyes in the Promised Land. The people allowed their natural vision to overrule what God had spoken.

Pastors are somewhat taught like the military; let’s say, you are like me, a Southern Baptist; we are well trained in seminary in the Bible, and the love of God. I would say our training is very good.

Our pastors are very good and they do the right thing, just like they were taught. I also notice, everything we do, we can manage well.
I believe therein lies the problem. They were never taught how to get over into the supernatural realm of God and operate in the faith realm, but neither were their teachers. It would be more like this, you can go to school and get a business degree and never take a course from a teacher that ever owned or operated a business.

God’s miracle working supernatural power is all out of His Spirit, and you must leave the natural realm; the taught realm, and get over into the spirit and the faith realm to make it work. It all works by faith and faith works by love. The supernatural can’t be taught but so much, you have to ask and believe for it.

It is a very big step. It is much easier to stay with what you can manage, after all God can heal if He wants to. That, of course, lets us off the hook, and keeps us in a safe place that we can control.

You can have a beautiful church service every Sunday, and do the work of the Lord without the real power of The Spirit of God. We can take the Bible and be the master of the pulpit, and do everything right. We just don’t do everything that Jesus wanted done, like healing the sick.
Now let me tell you how I really feel about the subject: I do believe The Lord Jesus has, somewhat, lifted the healing movement from the church, because we just simply would not believe Him for it. We just rejected it. I guess it is easier to follow the ways of men than to step out and walk by faith.

I want you to notice that James is talking to the Church here.

James 5:14-15 “is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up. And if he has committed sins, they shall be forgiven him”.

This service should be offered every Sunday.

Today, James would probably say, is any sick among you, and is there anybody in this place that can pray the prayer of faith?
Do we have enough faith to carry out this simple instruction?

16 ”Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”

Many times I have seen people come to the church and ask for this service, only to be taken to a back room to be prayed for. Is this because we don’t expect God to do anything? The preacher’s message seems to be more important. How could God be anything, but disappointed in this faithless act that only gives him honorable mention. He wants to be honored and glorified among his people. He wants his work, His glory, to be seen, and experienced!
More to come on healing.
