Yesterday, the Nettes varsity basketball team hosted 515 rival, the Gilmer Lady Cats in region 7AAAA action. The two teams second match up of the season, but the first to count in the region standings. As always, this game was very entertaining.
The first quarter started off very slow paced as both teams know each other so well. Scoring started to come towards the end of the quarter and the Lady Cats got out ahead, 16-9. Back and forth action would follow in the second quarter as Gilmer outscored Pickens 8-6 to take a 24-15 lead into halftime. The Nettes came out determined to close the gap as they outscored the Lady Cats in the third 17-15, to trim the deficit to 39-32 headed to the fourth and final quarter of play. The lead would prove to be too much for Pickens to overcome as Gilmer won the fourth quarter 21-20 to seal the win 60-52.
The Nettes are now 4-4 on the season and 2-1 in region play
