Friday, the Nettes varsity basketball team hosted the Lady Panthers of Ridgeland in 7AAAA region play. It was the first home game for the Nettes in the new year. Pickens got the win in big fashion.The Nettes jumped out in front early on in the first quarter as they used a combination of offense and defense to go up 21-4 going to the second. More of the same occurred in the second quarter as the Pickens defense held the Lady Panther offense to just three points in the quarter while adding another twenty-one to their total to take a 42-7 lead into the break.
In the third, the Ridgeland offense got going and outscored the Nettes 15-10. However Pickens still held the lead going to the fourth, 52-22. A shortened final quarter was won by the Nettes 7-6 as Pickens came away with the win, 59-28.
Pickens is now 8-9 on the season and 4-3 in region play

Haley Kalson: 11 points, 4 assists, 1 rebound, and 3 steals
Makayla Payne: 8 points, 3 assists, and a steal
Mackenzie Hampton: 7 points, 1 assist, 7 rebounds, and a steal
Kaitlin Redman: 7 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals
Shelby Cook: 6 points, and 8 rebounds
Ashley Nelson: 5 points, 8 rebounds, and a steal
Autumn Young scored 5 points, dished out 2 assists, grabbed 2 rebounds, and recorded a steal, Paula Pickett had 4 points and 3 rebounds, and Madison McClure grabbed 5 rebounds
Pickens will be right back at it on Saturday as they travel to Blue Ridge to take on the Lady Rebels of Fannin. Tip off is set for 4 pm.
