Lewis Jackson Yancey, age 97, of Jasper died Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Grandview Healthcare.Mr. Yancey was born to the late Joe Yancey and Mae Clara Fields Yancey. He was a member of Long Swamp Baptist Church and worked for many years at Brock Supply in Jasper.
He was preceded in death by Myrtle Wilson Yancey, Louise Childers Yancey, and daughter, Dortha Quinton.
He is survived by daughters, Doris Walker of Jasper, Addline Hart of Jasper, Cristal Young of Jasper, Peggy Poore of Calhoun, GA; son, Stanley Yancey of Oakman, GA; nine grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Jerusalem Baptist Church with Reverend Buck Parker officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, January 30, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home.
