Last Friday, the Dragons played host to the Raiders of Southeast Whitfield in a big 7AAAA region game. Coming into the game, Pickens held the 6th spot in the region standings with the Raiders two games up in the 5th spot. The first quarter started as slow as you could imagine. The first points weren’t scored until a few minutes into the quarter and the Raiders held the lead, 13-10. The second quarter went back and forth as Southeast Whitfield outscored the Dragons 11-8, to take a 24-18 lead into the break.
In the third, fans saw more back and forth action as both teams made runs. The Raiders outscored Pickens 19-17, to hold a 43-35 lead as we headed to the fourth. Southeast Whitfield held off the Dragons as they outscored Pickens 21-19 to seal the win, 64-54.
Pickens is now 11-13 on the season and 3-10 in region play

Trent Rizoti: 9 points, 2 assists, 10 rebounds, and a steal
Holden Roop: 7 points, 1 assist, and 2 rebounds
Walker Lawrence: 6 points, 2 assists, 3 rebounds, and a steal
Travis Huffman added 5 points, 4 assists, and a steal
Pickens will look to end the regular season on a high note as they travel to Rossville on Tuesday to take on the Panthers of Ridgeland. Both teams are tied for 6th in the region so the winner gets the 6th spot and the loser gets the 7th spot. Tip off is scheduled for 7:30.
