Last Friday, the Dragonettes varsity basketball team hosted the Lady Raiders of Southeast Whitfield in a critical 7AAAA match up. Both teams came in tied for fourth in the standings. Pickens had a little extra motivation as it was also Senior Night. The first quarter saw both teams finding success offensively. The Nettes held a lead after one, 15-13. In the second quarter, the Pickens defense shutdown the Lady Raider offense holding them to just 3 second quarter points. The Nettes poured in 16 points on offense in the quarter to take a 31-16 lead into the break.

In the third, the teams again traded buckets, but Pickens outscored Southeast 15-11, to take a 46-27 lead into the fourth and final quarter. The Lady Raiders outscored the Nettes in the fourth 16-15, but it would not be enough as Pickens picked up a big win to send seniors, Haley Kalson, Makayla Payne, & Paula Pickett out on a high note. The win put the Nettes in 4th by themselves.

Pickens is now 11-13 on the season and 7-6 in region play
