James 3:16 “For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.”Dear Lord of perfect wisdom, the awareness of envy is all around us. It takes spiritual values and rips them to shreds. It perverts the moral understanding and causes confusion. You are able, O Lord, to touch strife-torn lives and remove this deadly poison. Take what we have perverted and restore it again to perfection. Heal the deep wounds made in our personalities by this overpowering force of envy. Cause us to accept ourselves as we are with our present station in life. Give us understanding so that we may see the complete foolishness of always trying to get ahead regardless of the cost. Help us to see that if a measure of success is attained in such a way, it reduces us to spiritual paupers. We pray in Jesus name.
