The Fifth Saying from the Cross: John 19:28 “I thirst.”O God, glorious in mercy, rich in grace, and wondrous love, we bow in humility with hearts aflame with thanksgiving that you would go to such lengths to redeem us. We marvel that all through the agony of the Cross Jesus suppressed the physical to major on the spiritual act of redemption. Then His humanity cries, “I thirst”.
We thank you for the provision made for us to have our soul thirst quenched by this act of love. Jesus was made to thirst in order that He might extend the invitation. “Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy and eat, and come unto Me: hear and your soul shall live.”
There is nothing that we could do to repay you for all you have done for us. We give you our allegiance as your children bought with a price. Our total being belongs to you. Grant us the grace to live in this relationship day by day. Help this person who seeks you now to place in your hands the total of life through Jesus’ name.
Amen
