Daily Prayer: 05/27

Matthew 5:4 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”

Lord Jesus, we read your words and marvel that you can make our lives happy when we are heartbroken over our sin. When we see what our sin is and the effect that it has in our lives we cannot but mourn that it has separated us from all that is eternal and meaningful in life.

Oh, the comfort that comes with spiritual cleansing! We are comforted that we do not have to bear our sins alone for they are removed as a great burden from our backs. We are blessed that we will no longer be judged for our awayness from God. We are happy in our new life and our mourning has turning into joy.

Then, when we mourn over life’s losses we can truly experience the comfort that comes from your divine touch.
