Daily Prayer: 06/04

Matthew 5:13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.”

Lord Jesus, you paid your followers a high compliment in saying that we are the salt of the earth. But we know that it is only because of your Spirit in us that makes us this way. You want us to be pure in motive and action. It is so easy to become tainted in our culture. You need people who can show others that the best things in life are really possible.

There is moral putrefaction all around us and yet the gospel keeps society from total corruption. Help your people by their very presence to make it easier for others to come out of the slime. Preserve our nation from collapse. Empower our churches to be uncompromising.

As salt adds flavor to food, help us to add flavor to our community and national life. May those who have lost their saltiness find it again in renewed faith.
