Mrs. Gladys Thelma Roper, age 96, of the Yellow Creek Community passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at Grandview Health Care. She was born September 25, 1918 to Johsua and Lois Kent in Cherokee County. She was married to the late Roy James Roper.
Mrs. Roper is survived by children, Charlene and Gene Klein of the Yellow Creek Community, JoAnn and Sanders Vaughn of Gainesville, James and Estelle Roper of the Yellow Creek Community, Joyce and Sammy Kendrick of the Yellow Creek Community; daughter-in-law, Pat Roper of the Yellow Creek Community; sister, Betty Kent of the Yellow Creek Community; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren. Other family members also survive. Mrs. Roper was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Roper and her son, Bobby Roper.
The Funeral Service will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 8 at Yellow Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Mike Byess, Reverend Sylvester Ridings, and Reverend Jeff Wilkie officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers are Aaron Kendrick, Michael Wilkie, David Klein, Trenton Roper, Barry Roper, Steven Roper, Danny Roper, Michael Kent, and Brandon Kent.
The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 06; from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Friday, August 7; and from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 8.
