The Long Table Set for October 17th

Always searching for an intriguing venue and an exciting theme, Prevent Child Abuse Pickens (PCAP) announced The Long Table 2015 will take place at the Pickens County Airport, with dining and dancing right down the middle of the runway.  The theme of ‘Come Fly with Me’ harkens back to the days when air travel was sophisticated and elegant, Sinatra’s Rat Pack was everywhere and Mad Men were real.

Welcome to PCAP Airlines!

On Saturday October 17^th guests will don their black and white attire and head to the airport to board a flight where every seat is First Class.  International destinations are in the flight plan.  Before takeoff, cocktails will be served, possibly a Martini, a Tom Collins or maybe a Cuba Libre whatever was popular back in the heyday of PanAm and TWA.  Music to compliment the theme will be provided by Emerald Empire, voted one of the country’s best party bands.  Starting with crooners like Frank, Dean, and Sammy, The Emerald Empire will take passengers on a journey through time.

The boarding lounge will afford passengers a photo opportunity with their captain, a vintage aircraft and maybe a stewardess while featuring appetizers from Spain:

Tortilla de Chorizo y queso fresco (chorizo quesadilla )

Camarones al diabla (spicy garlicky shrimp )

Tapas de higo con queso manchego (roasted figs with manchego cheese drizzled with honey, mint & walnuts

No mere movie on this flight, instead passengers will have the opportunity to acquire their next adventure, be it a seaside vacation, catered feast, golf package, fighter pilot experience, a piece of art or some other treasure at a live auction.

Upon boarding passengers will take their seats at the elegant dining table, emblazoned with flowers and candelabra and will be served with china and crystal. (No seat belts required on this flight)  They will start with a the soup garnered from a Portuguese recipe:

Roasted pumpkin puree topped with caramelized onion cheddar cheese and farm fresh tart apple confit

After achieving cruising altitude, passengers will feast on entrees inspired by France:

Steak au Poivre, Soufflé of sweet potato, roasted root vegetables

Coq au Van, Red wine braised vegetables, Roasted cauliflower potato puree

Cassoulet with vegetable sausage, White wine braised vegetables, French tied asparagus (Vegetarian/gluten free)

At this point The Emerald Empire Band will hit the afterburners and kick into the high energy music that made them famous.  Whatever it takes to get you out of your seats and dancing, showing some of those ‘moves like Jagger.’

And, finally, sweets to maintain your energy -a sumptuous dessert from Italy

Limon cello mousse, gigalenti cookie and mini canolli

As we touchdown, the captain says:  “Ladies and Gentlemen, we hope you enjoyed the sunset, magnificent views of the mountains and the wide open sky during our flight and as always: Thank you for flying PCAP Airlines.”
