Joan Margaret Roberts: Obituary

Joan Margaret Roberts, March 21, 1932 – November 14, 2015

It is with great joy and sorrow that our family want you to know that our sweet Mom, Joan Roberts, has joined our Daddy in Heaven. For those who did not realize she was ill, we assure you that this was a sudden illness lasting a little more than two months. Mom died peacefully Saturday night, November 14 among all of her family, as she requested.

She was born Joan Margaret Mobus on March 21, 1932 in Plainfield, NJ. She met and married William Roberts. They were married September 10, 1955 and shortly thereafter began a series of moves due to Dad’s job. They moved a total of nine times, settling in Jasper upon retirement in 1996. Each time they moved, they grew together as a family and embraced each move.

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2015 at Jasper United Methodist Church; 210 Church Street; Jasper, GA 30143. Per Mom, there are to be no ‘weepy whiners’ at her service. Visitation at the church will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. A memorial celebration will follow from 11:00-12:00. A luncheon will be held at the church immediately following the service.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the ‘Joan Roberts Memorial Fund’ at Jasper United Methodist Church, or to the charity of your choice.

We thank you for loving and supporting our fabulous Mom; a wonderful life well-lived and a true lady.

She leaves behind daughters, Eve Roberts Sauer of Jasper and Doris Roberts Estes of Nashville, TN; sister, Lynn Kemmel of Melbourne, FL; grandchildren, Greg Lee (Jacqueline) of Marietta; Melissa Estes Perry (Adam) of Murfreesboro, TN; Turner Lee (Alisha) of Woodstock; Carmen Estes Johnson (David) of Nashville, TN; Mitchell Estes, Jr. of Nashville, TN; great-grandchildren, Kayla Perry, Carmen Perry, Colby Johnson, Noah Lee, Ellie Lee, Emalyn Lee, Ava Lee, and Peyton Lee. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Ellis Roberts.

Arrangements are entrusted to the staff of Roper Funeral Home & Crematory in Jasper, GA.
