Nettes’ Fall To Lady Generals Now 1-1 In Region Play

Earlier this evening, the PHS Dragonettes varsity basketball team traveled to Ringgold to take on the Lady Generals of Heritage in a 7-AAAA region match up. Pickens came into the ball game with a 3-2 record and a 1-0 record in region play.

 

The 1st quarter, didn’t start off too well for the Nettes’ The Lady Generals came out to a 9-0 start to the game. The Pickens offense however got settled down, and were able to climb back into things. Heritage led after one, 20-15. The Nettes’ took the lead for a brief moment in the 2nd quarter, but the Lady Generals grabbed the lead back prior to the half using a 15-10 quarter run. Heritage led the Nettes’ at the break, 35-25.

 

A slow start to the 2nd half hindered Pickens early on. The Nettes’ again though, were able to get things going towards the middle of the 3rd. The Lady Generals took a 50-38 lead going to the 4th and final quarter. In the 4th, Heritage used a 14-8 run to close things out and get the win over Pickens, 64-46. With the loss, The Nettes’ are now 3-3 on the season & 1-1 in region play.

 

Leading the way for the Nettes’ tonight were:

Mackenzie Hampton: 11 points, & 11 rebounds

Autumn Young: 9 points, 2 assists, 3 rebounds, & 1 steal

Torie Williams: 7 points, 2 assists, 2 rebounds, & 1 steal

Shelby Cook: 6 points, & 5 rebounds

Kaitlin Redman added 4 points, 2 assists, 5 rebounds, & 2 steals, & Ashley Nelson chipped in 3 points, 4 rebounds, & a steal.

 

The Nettes’ will be back home in the Dragons Den this Friday night as they host 515 rival, the Gilmer Lady Cats in a big 7-AAAA region game. Tip off scheduled for 7 p.m.
