The complicated case of a well-known Jasper attorney Mark Miller, that is accused of numerous charges of financial fraud and theft has taken a turn with a extremely high bail set. After a day of court running from 9 a.m. until after 7 p.m. Senior Judge Richard Winegarden declared the high-profile attorney would be given bond on each case individually. Miller would need to come up with more than $1.6 million in property and $235,000 in cash to get out of jail on bond. Miller had been in jail since June with no bond set prior to this hearing.
Miller’s Defense Counsel Scott Poole said there is no way his client could arrange that kind of cash bond. “It’s so high, it is basically the equivalent of no bond.”
