Dragons Fall In Close One With Adairsville, Get Back Into Region Friday

Yesterday evening, the PHS Dragons varsity basketball team traveled to take on the Tigers of Adairsville in a non region clash. These two teams met last Saturday in the Dragons Den, with Pickens coming away the victors. The season series was tied 1-1 going into last night.

 

In the 1st, things started off well for the Dragons. Using defense to lead to offense, Pickens led things going to the 2nd, 18-9. In the 2nd, Adairsville would go on a big run. A 27-14 quarter advantage, the Tigers took the lead into halftime, 36-32.

 

In the 3rd, both teams traded buckets, finding success on the offensive end. Each team poured in 24 points in the frame, & we would head to the 4th with Adairsville leading the Dragons, 60-56. In the 4th, the Tigers started to pull away, but Pickens made it a game late. Adairsville were able to hit a couple free throws to seal the win, 82-76.

 

Leading the way for the Dragons were:

Blake Gorth: 18 points, 3 assists, 8 rebounds, 1 steal, & 2 blocks

Seth Bishop: 16 points, 6 rebounds, 1 steal, & 1 block

Avery Luke: 11 points, 3 assists, 1 rebound, 6 steals, & 1 block

Joseph Gossett: 7 points, 4 assists, 2 rebounds, & 3 steals

Keinyuan Hooks: 6 points, 5 assists, 2 rebounds, & 1 steal

Hunter Jordan: 6 points, 3 rebounds, & 1 block

Hunter Herman: 4 points, 1 assist, 3 rebounds, & 1 steal

Jacob Brumby: 4 points, 2 rebounds, & 1 block

Chase Simmons: 3 points, 1 assist, 2 rebounds

Zach Goss: 2 points, 2 assists, & 1 rebound

 

Pickens, will now prepare to get back into region mode as they will travel to take on the Bruins of Northwest Whitfield on Friday. The Bruins, lead the region standings at the moment with a 7-1 record. Tip off is scheduled for 8:30 p.m.
