Dragons Fall In Road Game Against Heritage, Back At Home Friday

Last night, the PHS Dragons varsity basketball team traveled to take on the Generals of Heritage in a big 6-AAAA region game. Pickens, came into the ball game on a high note after defeating the Sonoraville Phoenix after a late three & free throws last Saturday and looked to carry that over against a Heritage team that occupied the 3rd spot in the region coming into last night.

 

In the 1st, both teams found the bucket early. After one quarter of play, the Generals led the Dragons 20-13. In the 2nd, the offense continued to pour in. Using a 27-18 quarter advantage, Heritage took a 47-31 lead over Pickens into the break.

 

In the 3rd, the Dragons made a run of their own. Pickens, outscored the Generals in the 3rd, 19-15, to cut the Heritage lead down to 62-50 going to the 4th. In the 4th, an 18-11 quarter adavantage for Heritage  and mounting foul trouble would be too much to overcome as the Generals took this one, 80-61.

 

Leading the way for the Dragons were:

Hunter Hermann: 17 points, 5 rebounds, & 1 steal

Zach Goss: 9 points, 2 assists, & 4 rebounds

Avery Luke: 8 points, 1 assist, & 5 rebounds

Keinyuan Hooks: 7 points, 6 assists, 4 steals, & 1 block

Blake Gorth: 6 points, 2 assists, 6 rebounds, & 1 block

Joseph Gossett: 6 points, 1 assist, & 2 rebounds

Jacob Brumby: 3 points, 1 assist, & 2 rebounds

Hunter Fowler: 3 points

Hunter Jordan: 2 points, 1 assist, 4 rebounds, & 1 block

 

Pickens, will return home on Friday after a four game road trip. The Dragons, will host the Ridgeland Panthers in a huge 6-AAAA region game as we head down the stretch of the regular season. Tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
