Dragons Get Big Region Win On Senior Night

Last night, the PHS Dragons varsity basketball team hosted the Southeast Whitfield Raiders for the final game of the regular season and for Senior Night. Pickens, came in looking to get on the winning side of things prior to the 6-AAAA region tournament.

 

In the 1st, much like the girls game beforehand, it was closely contested. Heading to 2nd, the Raiders held a 16-13 lead over Pickens. In the 2nd, the Dragons made a run to grab the lead, using a 15-7 quarter advantage, Pickens led Southeast Whitfield 28-23 going into the break.

 

In the 3rd, both teams got the offense rolling on their respective ends. Both teams scored 18 points each as the Dragons maintained their lead going to the 4th and final quarter, 46-41. In the 4th, Pickens opened things up. With the help of some really solid defense, the Dragons closed the game out with a 23-9 run to get the win for seniors Hunter Jordan, & Avery Luke, 69-50.

 

Leading the way for the Dragons were:

Seth Bishop: 19 points, 1 assist, 4 rebounds, & 1 block

Avery Luke: 11 points, 4 assists, 9 rebounds, 2 steals, & 2 blocks

Hunter Hermann: 11 points, 3 assists, 5 rebounds, & 3 steals

Blake Gorth: 9 points, 3 assists, 9 rebounds, & 3 blocks

Jacob Brumby: 7 points, & 4 rebounds

Keinyuan Hooks: 4 points, 2 assists, 3 rebounds, & 4 steals

Hunter Jordan: 4 points, 3 rebounds, & 1 block

Joseph Gossett: 2 points, 3 assists, 1 rebound, & 2 steals

Zach Goss: 2 points

 

The Dragons, will now take the rest of the week to prepare for the 6-AAAA region tournament that starts next Monday and will be held at Southeast Whitfield.
