Jeffery Lamar Bennett, age 55 of Jasper, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta. He was born August 12, 1961 to the late Claude and Faye Bennett in Pickens County.
Jeff worked in the food service industry in Pickens County with the Pickens County School System, Amicalola House, Jasper Family Steak House; owner of Bennett’s Restaurant; and co-owner of Dough Boys. He also worked at Roper Funeral Home and most recently with the Pickens County Probate Court.
Jeff is survived by his spouse, Mike Degolier of Jasper; step-son, Mackenzie Degolier of Jasper; brother and sister-in-law, Dwayne Mark and Annette Bennett of Cleveland, Tennessee; nephew, Dylan Zachary Bennett of Jasper; niece, Lyndsey Claudia Bennett of Jasper; aunts and uncles, Dorthy Jean Bennett, Mary Lou Qualls, Mildred Taylor, Geneva Atkins, Bonnie Millians, Jerry Bennett, Louis Bennett, Don Duncan; and several cousins.
A celebration of Jeff’s life will be held at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, May 13, 2017 in the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home. The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home on Saturday, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, make a donation in Jeff’s name to the charity of your choice.
