Sunday, June 25 a hit and run occurred between a motorcyclist and a pickup truck. The driver of the pickup truck allegedly hit the motorcycle head on and fled the scene leaving the driver seriously injured. The victim is currently in ICU in serious condition. Sources tell us the motorcyclist received assistance from motorists who stopped to help prior to medical assistance arriving, which may have been life saving.
According to Officer Kris Stancil, Pickens County Sheriff’s Office, the Georgia State Patrol are working the accident. However Stancil did issue the following statement regarding the suspected driver of the pickup truck:
Our deputies located the driver and arrested him this afternoon. After receiving an anonymous tip that Mr. Thomas Marlow has been visiting an area near Talking Rock, deputies set up surveillance and observed him traveling on Whitestone Road. They were then able to stop and arrest him and a juvenile passenger without incident.
Following this statement we attempted to contact the Georgia State Patrol and are currently waiting for a response.
