Dragons Perform Well In Track Season Opener

The Pickens Dragons had their first track meet of the season on Wednesday as they traveled over to West Forsyth High School. There were several athletes that stood out on the day.

Pickens girls had a good afternoon with two standing out and placing high in the 400M run.  Scarlett Yarger ran to a second place finish while her teammate Angelina Casey finished behind Yarger for a third-place finish.

On the boys’ side of the event, seven Dragons not only competed well but many had personal best in their events.  Seth Black finished with a second place in the high jump.  Hays Pickett had a second place finish in the long jump and a personal best at 18 feet-2 inches.  In the discus throw, Nicholas Brocker finished third with a personal best. Brocker threw to a distance of 104 feet-3 inches.  Chandler Rhodes had a shot put throw of  41 feet-7 inches good for a personal best and good enough for second place finish.  Matt Webb took the first place trophy in Pole Vault with 10 feet-6 inches(also Webb’s personal best).  The last Dragon to step up was Seth White.  White walked away with a first-place finish and a personal best in the 800M run.  White’s time for the run was 2 minutes-7 seconds.  Great job by all the Dragons!
