Virgil Conway Gray
January 10, 1922 – February 28, 2019
Virgil Conway Gray Jr., age 97, passed away Thursday, February 28, 2019 at his home in Jasper. He was born January 10, 1922 to Virgil and Myrtle Gray Sr. in Atlanta, Georgia. He proudly served his country during World War II in the Pacific and received a Purple Heart for his service.
Virgil is survived by his wife, Mary Delores Gray of Jasper; daughter and son-in-law, Duriece and Buddy Capano of Jasper; son, Darrell L. Gray of Jasper; grandchildren, Heather Dailey of Jasper, Tyler Gray of Marietta, and Brittany Anderson of Acworth.
He was preceded in death by son, Virgil Conway Gray III; brother, Jack Gray; and sister, Marie Kenney.
Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Karen Cross, Ordained Minister, officiating. Interment will follow at Georgia National Cemetery with the graveside service beginning at 3:00 p.m.
