CLARENCE A. “TONY” HERMEL
January 6, 1933 – August 21, 2019
Clarence A. “Tony” Hermel, age 86 of 4025 Quay Road 60, Tucumcari, New Mexico 88401, formally of Talking Rock, Georgia passed away Wednesday, August 21 in Amarilla, Texas at the Northwest Texas Heart Hospital. Tony was born January 6,1933 to Fred and Emma Hermel in Faribault, Minnesota.
Tony is survived by his son, Hayden Hermel of Tucumcari, New Mexico; nieces, Alona (John) Weatherhead of The Villages, Florida, Deanna (Larry) Acord of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Joyce (Roger) Sand of Minot, North Dakota, Debbie (Hugh) Green of Huntsville, Alabama, Wendy (John) Hubbard of Indiana, Terry (Mike) Fitzgerald of Huntsville, Alabama, Sandra (Gary) Larson of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, Gwen (Steve) Wright of Minnesota; one nephew, Dwayne Schultz of Clayton, Georgia; sister-in-law, Rhoda Neighbors of Talking Rock; special friends, Jim and Shirly Evans of Talking Rock and a host of friends.
Tony was an honorable and generous man and a friend to all that knew him. He enjoyed three long careers, consisting of 27 years in Military as Sr. M/SGT in the United States Air Force, Georgia Calcium Products in Marble Hill, Georgia and served as a Bailiff for the Pickens County Court House for 18 years.
Pickens County was his home for 42 years.
Tony was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Helen Poole Hermel.
A memorial service is planned for 3:00 p.m., September 8, 2019 at Philadelphia Baptist Church with Reverend Grant Wade and Reverend Neal McKenzie. Visitation will be on that day from 9:00 a.m. to the funeral hour at Roper Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery.
