Nettes’ come away with region win in home opener

After 4 games either on the road or on a neutral floor, the PHS Dragonettes varsity basketball team was finally at home as they welcomed the Heritage Lady Generals in to begin region play. Pickens, came into the game 2-2, & looked to get region play started on the right foot with a big win over Heritage.

 

In the opening quarter, after starting off quickly, the Nettes, using their run & gun style of play, grabbed a 23-15 lead over the Lady Generals.

In the 2nd quarter, the offense for both teams picked up as 39 points were scored between the two squads. The Nettes, barely outscored Heritage in the frame 20-19, as Pickens took a 43-34 lead over the Lady Generals into the half.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In the 3rd quarter, both teams would find it difficult to sustain any sort of flow on offense. The Nettes, outscored Heritage, 9-4, to take a 52-38 lead into the 4th & final quarter.

In the 4th, the Lady Generals would make an attempt at a comeback outscoring Pickens 20-15 in the frame, but the Nettes were able to hold off Heritage & get the win, 67-58.

Amanda Nelson: 7 points

Kealy Hillhouse: 7 points

Allie Presley: 5 points

Reagan Harwood: 5 points

 

The Nettes, are now 3-2 overall, & 1-0 in region play. Pickens, will be back on the road this Friday as they take on the Ridgeland Lady Panthers in another 6-AAAA match up. Tip off scheduled for 6 pm.
