Comeback attempt falls short for dragons against bruins

After getting a much needed win on Friday against Southeast Whitfield, the Pickens Dragons (12-4, 4-2) looked to carry that momentum into their game against the Northwest Whitfield Lady Bruins (7-4, 5-1). As was the case in the girls game, this game had 2nd place in the region on the line with both teams at 4-1.

In the first quarter, both teams traded buckets as the Dragons got early buckets from Luke Rogers and Tucker Lowe. Northwest Whitfield went on a 5-0 run, to take a 9-4 lead. Ean Goodwin then nailed a three pointer to cut that lead down to 9-7. It would be a quarter of runs as the Bruins went on a 6-0 run, then Pickens would go on a 5-0 run. Going to the second, Northwest Whitfield held a 23-14 lead.
