Mr. Vivian C. (Cris) Criswell Jr. of Jasper, passed away peacefully at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper, GA on Monday, January 27, 2020, surrounded by his family.
Mr. Criswell is survived by his wife of 64 years, Shirley; son, Vivian Clyde Criswell III of Benedicta, Maine; daughter, Susan (Christopher) Gantick of Jasper; his only grandson, Brian Gantick of Jasper; brother James (Margaret) Criswell of Thomasville, AL; sister, Ruth (Phillip) Walker of Columbia, AL; sister-in-law, Darothy Mott of Jasper.
He proudly served 20 years in the U.S. Navy as Chief Petty Officer and spent 21 years as a mail carrier in the U.S. Post Office. He lived for 46 years in Ledyard, CT with his wife and children, then moved to Georgia with Shirley to live with his daughter and son-in-law in 2010.
He loved his church and his family and he will be sorely missed by all.
The family will accept flowers or donations to Talking Rock First Baptist Church in his memory.
The family will receive friends at Cagle Funeral Home Wednesday, January 29, from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM.
A Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at Talking Rock First Baptist Church, with Rev. Larry Kelley officiating.
Interment will be at 1:00 PM Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Magnolia Cemetery in Mobile, Alabama.
