Carly and Isaac with their dish.
The Georgia School Nutrition Program’s Fueling Georgia’s Future offered an opportunity for students to put their cooking talents to work by competing in the Student Chef Competition open to Georgia’s Middle School and High School Students.
Pickens County was represented by cooking duo, Carly Patterson and Isaac Kuyper.
Their coach is JMS Cooking Club sponsor, Ms. Charlene Stirewalt. Carly and Isaac were among only 8 teams of students from around the state selected to compete by cooking their dish of parmesan herb sweet potato hash browns.
While they were not selected as one of the top three in the state, they had a great time showing off their talents at Helms College in Macon on February 20, 2020. The Dragon Duo’s tasty recipe will be available to all school nutrition programs around the state for incorporating into their school menus.
Congratulations to Carly and Isaac, as well as to their Cooking Club sponsor, Ms.
Stirewalt. We are proud of your efforts and look forward to seeing your item on our local
school menus!
