Nettes pick up 15th win of the season in non-region action

Chatsworth, Ga — On Tuesday, January 26th, the Pickens Dragonettes (15-3, 7-1) traveled to Chatsworth to take on the North Murray Lady Mountaineers (5-12, 1-8) in non-region action. These two teams played each other on December 29th, with Pickens coming away with the 55-47 win. The Nettes, were coming off of a huge comeback win over Dawson on Saturday, while the Lady Mountaineers were coming off of a tough loss to Ringgold. In what was a defensive, sometimes physical game, Pickens came out on top 46-27.

 

In the first quarter, the Nettes jumped out to an early lead as they found success beating the full court press defense of North Murray. Going to the second quarter, the Nettes held a 22-8 lead over the Lady Mountaineers.

The second quarter, the lead for Pickens grew to as many as 16 as the Nettes hit three pointers on three different occasions. The Lady Mountaineers, used a 7-0 run to end the half, and a 14-9 overall run to cut the Pickens lead at the half to 31-22.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The third quarter, and the second half in general, saw the Nettes play very tough, stingy defense. In what was a tough quarter for both teams, Pickens outscored North Murray 10-2, to take a 41-24 lead going to the fourth.

The fourth quarter saw the Nettes continue their stellar defensive effort as they gave up just three points. Pickens surrendered just 5 points in the 2nd half on their way to a 46-27 road win.
