PRESS RELEASE – Pickens Fire was dispatched to a vehicle fire Tuesday afternoon, around the 7:20 p.m. hour at 4:30 Sassafras Mountain, Laurel Lane.
The actual location was across the county line in Dawson County. Pickens fire responded with Station 10 and Station 5 along with Dawson County Fire also responding.
Volunteer firefighters from Pickens Fire Station 10 (Wildcat Community) located on Monument Road were first to arrive on scene.
Station-10 personnel immediately initiated fire suppression efforts and promptly brought the fire under control. Reportedly, the owner had recently completed a three-year restoration project on the vehicle.
As he was preparing to take the vehicle out for a ride, it unfortunately caught fire.
He was able to get the vehicle off the driveway and away from the home.
Vehicle appears to be a total loss. Great job and response by our group of volunteers from the Wildcat Community. Responding apparatus were Pickens Fire E-10, T-10, E-50, R-5, Batt-11, Dawson E-1, M-6 and Batt Chief.
