Dragons drop region opener to White County

Jasper, Ga — It was a cool and breezy night on Friday, September 13th as the Pickens Dragons hosted the Warriors of White County to begin 6-AAA play. The Warriors, were coming off a convincing win over East Jackson last week while the Dragons had the week off last week. After a slow start offensively in the first half by both teams, it was White County who would pull away in the second half to pick up a 24-7 win.

The majority of the first half saw both teams trading possessions with no scoring results. With just over a minute remaining in the first half, the Warriors were facing a third and long. QB Tripp Nix, was pressured out of the pocket and scrambled to his left. With receivers covered up, Nix would tuck it and run for a 39-yd touchdown. The PAT was good and the Warriors would take a 7-0 lead over the Dragons into the break.
