Man armed with an axe shuts down Pioneer Road

PICKENS COUNTY, Ga. – On Thursday, May 29, The Jasper Police Department responded to a domestic dispute around 3:30 p.m.

Allegedly an individual was armed with an axe on  Pioneer Road.

The suspect was identified as Nick Garner.

Garner had “caused damage to a vehicle and residence before fleeing and barricading himself inside his nearby home,” according to a post by the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office.

With the assistance of the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office SWAT, Garner was safely taken into custody without further incident.

The Pickens County Sheriff’s Offices stated, “We thank our partnering agencies and the community for their patience and cooperation during this response.”
