Jasper, Ga — The Pickens Dragonettes, were back home on Friday, January 30th as they welcomed the Lady Trojans of North Hall to the Dragons Den for 6-AAA region action. The Nettes, came in looking to avenge an early season loss, and run their win streak to four games. After a very intense, back and forth game, It was a late defensive stop, and clutch points from Senior Ellison Steinhauer that helped earn the Nettes a 60-57 win.
An early bucket by Steinhauer to start the game, would put the Nettes up early. After the Lady Trojans tied it up at 2, Skyler Lathem, would make a layup to give the Nettes a 4-2 advantage. Ealyn Kennedy, would complete an and-1 play, to give the Lady Trojans a 5-4 lead. Steinhauer, would then go on a 7-0 run to put the Nettes up 11-5. Lauren Hemmer and Camille Nix, would combine to go on their own 7-0 run to make it 12-11 Lady Trojans.
Reagan Ludington and Hemmer, would trade threes as the Lady Trojans still held a one point lead. After Steinhauer made a pair of free throws, Hemmer, would hit her second three of the quarter and then connect on a pair of free throws to give the Lady Trojans a 20-16 lead. A pair of free throws by Steinhauer, would cut the lead in half heading to the second quarter as the Lady Trojans led it, 20-18.
A basket by Hemmer to begin the second quarter, would push the lead back to four. A three by Steinhauer, would cut the lead to one. After the two teams traded buckets, the Nettes, would go on a 9-0 run led by Darbi Stanley, Tania Rivera, and Stenhauer to take a 32-26 lead. Back to back threes by the Lady Trojans, would tie the game up at 32 a piece. Rivera, would then go on a 5-0 run to give the Nettes a 37-32 advantage.
A late basket by Hemmer before the end of the first half, would cut the Nettes lead down to 37-34 heading into the break.
Ludington, would split a pair of free throws to start the scoring in the second half as the Nettes led it, 38-34. A three by Hemmer, would trim the lead down to one. After a bucket by Bree Jewell, a three by Nix, would tie the game at 40. Steinhauer and Ludington, would end the third quarter by combining to go on a 7-0 run to give the Nettes a 47-40 lead heading to the fourth.
A basket by the Lady Trojans to begin the fourth quarter, would cut the lead to five. Back to back buckets from Steinhauer and Jewell, would give the Nettes a 51-42 advantage. After a timeout by the Lady Trojans, Tallulah Ball, would get a tough layup to go to make it 51-44. After a bucket by Jewell, Nix and Hemmer, would combine to go on a 5-0 run to cut the lead to 53-49. Steinhauer, would get a lay-in to go to make it 55-49.
Hemmer, would go on a 4-0 run herself to cut the lead to 55-53. A big bucket by Steinhauer, would make it a four point game. Hemmer, would respond with another 4-0 run to tie the game at 57. Steinhauer, would get the ball and drive all the way down the court and get the layup to go to give the Nettes a 59-57 lead. After a defensive stop by the Nettes, they would inbound it to Steinhauer who would be fouled and she would head to the line to try and add to the lead.
After the first one was no good, Nettes coach Jordan Shaw, would call a timeout to set his defense. After the timeout, Steinhauer, would hit the second free throw to put the Nettes up 60-57. The Lady Trojans, would get off one last desperation heave to try to time the game, but it was no good and the Nettes would hang on to win it, 60-57.

The Nettes, will be at home for the final time in the regular season as they host the GAC Lady Spartans on Tuesday, February 3rd. The Nettes, will look to earn a split with the Lady Spartans after falling to them on the road earlier in the season. Tip off is set for 6 pm.
