PICKENS COUNTY, Ga. — A Pickens County man is in custody after authorities say he made threatening statements on social media that prompted an investigation and subsequent arrest.
According to the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were notified on Wednesday, April 8, after a concerned citizen reported a social media post allegedly made by Jerry Warren that contained threats of violence.
Investigators reviewed the report and the content of the post the following day. Officials said the statements included references to using a vehicle to harm others. Authorities also cited Warren’s prior criminal history involving violent offenses, as well as an active probation warrant, as factors in their response.
Based on the findings, deputies obtained a warrant charging Warren with terroristic threats, along with a search warrant for his residence.
Warren was taken into custody without incident on Thursday, April 9, and transported to the Pickens County Jail. He is currently being held without bond.
The sheriff’s office credited the individual who reported the post, emphasizing the importance of community members alerting law enforcement to potential threats.
