By: Jackson Leake
The Chamber Community Breakfast was held Tuesday, March 14th, 2017. Attendees arrived to a delicious breakfast catered by Chick-Fil-A and networked with over 100 people in attendance before beginning the program.
Donna Torres’ Welcome and the Invocation was followed by our new member welcome by Chamber Ambassador Matt Youngblood of WYYZ – 1490 AM and 102.7 FM – The Croc, which included: Higgins Party Rentals, Sunrise Veterinary Hospital, Law Offices of Brian Westbrook, and Serenity 7 Salon. We encourage the community to reach out to these new members and learn about the services they offer. In addition, March’s Large Business of the Month, a program sponsored by Community Bank of Pickens County, was awarded to Amicalola EMC.
The March Chamber Community Breakfast was sponsored by North Georgia Pregnancy Center and Pat Page spoke on their behalf. After the sponsor remarks, the program was concluded by giving away door prizes donated by: the Pickens County Chamber of Commerce, Carriage House, A Love to Travel, Chattahoochee Technical College, North Georgia Pregnancy Center, Renasant Bank, Piedmont Mountainside Hospital, ETC, Whitestone Valley Landfill, Bojangles, and Community Bank of Pickens County.

Looking for Bids for Youth Artwork
By: Cassie Rasco
First Baptist Church of Jasper Preschool & Kindergarten is a fantastic educational program which offers an alternative to public education for the younger years of learning.
Accredited Exempt through Bright from the Start, FBCJ is not state funded and relies solely on tuition and donations to function on a day to day basis. When improvements need to be made the money has to be raised through various resources. This year we had a specific Art Day where the children, ages 18 months to Kindergarten, learned about a specific artist and piece of art and then re-created those pieces. The results are amazing that at such a young age the children really can replicate beautiful art. With the need to improve on the ground structure of our playground, we are going to be Auctioning off our 7 pieces of art.
This is going to begin at the Chamber Breakfast on March 14 by doing a written bid auction. It will continue during the month of March where the bidder can text their bid to 770-633-1157 and at the end of each day the list of the highest bidder for each painting will be listed on our Facebook page, FBC Jasper Preschool. On Friday March 31st the winners will be announced in the Chamber Gram and on our Facebook page.
The paintings will be on display at the Chamber during the entire month and the hope is that many will come out and see what amazing little artists we have in our community and help support their creativity. If there are any questions, please contact Cassie Rasco at 706-253-5017 for more information.
