The Pickens tennis team moved a step closer to the end of the regular season this week, as the team went up against Cedartown on Monday and against Cartersville on the following day.
The Pickens High tennis team took on Gilmer on Tuesday in a day of matches that saw the home Dragons and Dragonettes have an impressive amount of success. When it was all said and done the girls posted a 5-0 record on the afternoon while the boys finished the day with a 4-1 mark.
The Pickens Dragons and Dragonettes’ tennis players had a fine outing against the Fannin Rebels and Lady Rebels, as the Dragonettes finished the afternoon 5-0 and the Dragons finished with a 2-3 mark. (more…)
The Pickens High School Dragonettes basketball team traveled to North Hall High School to take on the Lady Trojans in the first round match up of the state playoffs. The Lady Trojans emerged victorious, winning 51-41. The Dragonettes struggled to score throughout the game, aided by a combination of the Lady Trojans full game full court press, and a plethora of Pickens’ own missed shots. (more…)
The Pickens Dragons and Dragonettes took care of business in their final regular season games of the 2011-2012 season, as both teams defeated White County on a senior night that the Class of 2012 in attendance and on the court will never forget. (more…)
Pickens High School was the site of two action-packed games on Friday night, as the Dragonettes pulled off a huge upset by beating the Allatoona Lady Buccaneers,a team ranked third in the state of Georgia prior to the game, and the Dragons fought hard but just couldn’t beat the high-flying Buccaneers. The Pickens High School Dragonettes hosted the rival Gilmer High School Lady Bobcats, on a night that saw six senior “Nettes:” Salone Brown; Megan Dixon; Emily Fields; Ellie Fields; Kristin Garner; and Mindi Mullins, honored. The “Nettes” captured the “Cats” with a 2-0 victory. Pickens pitcher, Savannah Buck, threw the complete game shut out. The game was a pitchers’ duel throughout, with neither team scoring until Brown’s RBI single drove in Danielle Goss, in the bottom of the fourth inning. (more…)
The Pickens High School varsity softball team fell 5-2 to the Fannin County High School Lady Rebels in the home opener for the Lady Rebels. The game began as a pitchers’ duel between the “Nettes’” Savannah Buck and Fannin’s Sadie Golden; however, Fannin pulled away in the bottom of the fourth scoring two runs to take the lead for good.
