Cecilia Dorsey McCowan : Obituary

Mrs. Cecilia Ophelia Dorsey McCowan, age 45, of Jasper, Ga. passed away Thursday, May 19th, 2011 at the Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, Ga.She was the daughter of Cecil and Ophel Dorsey of White County. She was the sixth child of seven children. She was born on February 20, 1966 and was a graduate of White County High School, class of 1984 and North Georgia Tech School of Nursing. She was a member of Travis Chapel United Methodist Church. On August 11, 1988 she married Jeffery McCowan of Pickens County and was a long time employee of Grandview Nursing Home.

Out of blessed union with Jeffrey were born a daughter, Ashley Ophelia, born on August 31, 1990 and son, Jeffery Chase, born on November 2, 1992. Cecilia was a loving, caring and fun loving person who was adored by all she met.

Survivors include her husband, Jeff McCowan of Jasper, Ga.; her children: Ashley and Jeffery Chase McCowan, both of Jasper; her father, Cecil Dorsey, her Mother-in-law, Helen McCowan of Jasper; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Loretta and Todd Wise of Virginia Beach and Carol and Albert Veal of Cleveland; her brothers: Frankie Powell of Habersham, Ishman and Anthony Dorsey, both of Cleveland and Todd Dorsey of Atlanta; sisters-in-law: Bridget Madden, Rome, Peris Hooks, Clarksville, Tn., and Kelly Riley, Rome; God-daughter, Heather Hall, Special friends, Janie Hall and Stella Monforti.

Funeral Service will be 2 PM, Monday at the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Brown and Rev. R.S. Thomas officiating. The interment will follow in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
