Kennesaw State Owls sophomore Sharon Swanson wrapped up an impressive 2011 season with another accolade this week, as she was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-South Region Second TeamSwanson, who was a 2011 All-Atlantic Sun Conference First Team honoree, led the A-Sun in home run and RBI with 14 and 49, respectively, while her .358 batting average was good for fourth in the conference. She was recognized by the NFCA in February, as well, when she went 10-for-15 with three home runs and eight RBI during a week of play to be named an NFCA Other Top Performer and earning A-Sun Player of the Week honors in the process. The Canton, Ga., native hit a grand slam that week in the Owls, 4-1, win over Georgia Tech, garnering a Capital One Cup Impact Performance.
The NFCA All-Region honor is the second one an Owl has received since the program made the jump to NCAA Division I in 2005. Jessica Cross earned Second Team All-Southeast Region honors in 2008.
