Nancy Kidd Crawford : Obituary

Mrs. Nancy Kidd Crawford, age 93, of Big Canoe, died Sunday, September 4, 2011, at The Oaks at Post Road in Cumming, Georgia, following a period of declining health.

Born November 1, 1917 in Richmond, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Richard Kidd and Rebecca Helmentoller Kidd. Mrs. Crawford was preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon and was also preceded in death by her husband, Howard Wayne Crawford, Sr. Mrs. Crawford was a veteran of the Women’s Army Corp having served during World War II and had worked at the Glen L. Martin Institute Library at the University of Maryland.

Survivors include, SON & DAUGHTER-IN-LAW, Wayne and Kathy Crawford, of Big Canoe; GRANDCHILDREN, Alyce and Brian Ritchie, Michael and Natasha Crawford, Claire Crawford, Kerry and Major Jeremy Bowling, and Sarah Crawford

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Family, with the remains placed in state at the Church at 10:00 a.m., Rev. George S. Yandell will officiate with cremation to follow the service. Interment of the cremains will be held at a later date in the Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood, Maryland

In lieu of flowers, those desiring to do so, may make contributions to the Episcopal Church of the Holy Family, 25th Anniversary Tree Planting, 202 Griffith Rd., Jasper, Georgia 30143.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening.
