Tornado Touch Down in Pickens: Picks Apart Marble Hill

The remnants of Tropical Storm Lee made his presence known in the East Side of Pickens County.

The Marble Hill area received the brunt of the storm. Uprooted trees and down power lines laid along Highway 53. Marble Hill Baptist Church lost the roof to the fellowship hall and has some water leaks inside.

Fire Chief Bob Howard reports of no injuries. Most of the area was without power as Amicalola EMC worked diligently to restore power to the area. Marble Hill residents now have power.

Chief Howard confirmed that a tornado had in fact touched down. With winds up to 70 mph the tornado damaged trees and substantial damage to structure which makes it an EF-0 on the Enhanced Fujita scale.
