No Action Taken at Jasper Special Called Meeting

At a special called meeting on Wednesday July 18th, City Council went into executive session to discuss a real estate transaction. After the executive session, Jasper Mayor John Weaver announced that “no action” was taking during the session. However, Mayor Weaver did say that the council had decided to let the Jasper Downtown Development Authority to continue with negotiations regarding the transaction.

After the meeting was adjourned, FYN asked both Weaver and City Clerk Tacie Williams what kind of real estate transaction the council had discussed, but both Weaver and Willams told FYN that since no action was taking during the meeting, the city council could not release that information.

FYN will continue to follow this story as it develops.
