The Pickens High School Dragonettes volleyball team’s season came to an end, after a 2-0 sweep at the hands of the Northwest Lady Bruins in the second round of the consolation bracket of the Region 7AAA tournament.The Nettes, the number seven seed of the tournament, faced a dangerous Dalton team, the number two seed, in the first round. The Catamounts swept the “Nettes,” winning 2-0.
The loss put Pickens place to face the Panther ladies of Ridgeland, who lost to Heritage in the first round. The Dragonettes heated up, pounding the Panthers 2-1 to move on to the next round.
The Pickens plans of a postseason were buried by the Bruins, in a 2-0 sweep that ended the Dragonettes’ season.
